Our Pricing

Because we want to make counseling services available to as many people as need them, we offer a variety of options for you -- from fully-licensed LPCs (who are reimbursible by your insurance as out-of-network providers), to lower-priced LPC Interns and Professional Life Coaches.  We also have a limited number of reduced-rate options for those with documented financial need.

LPC =
Licensed Professional Counselor
Your LPC is a fully-licensed counselor who has completed the following:

  • a Masters-level (or higher) degree in Professional Counseling,
  • a supervised, 300-hour practicum,
  • the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE),
  • the Texas Jurisprudence Exam, and
  • a 3000-hour supervised internship of at least 18 months.

LPCs are  trained to work with individuals, families, and groups in treating mental, behavioral, and emotional problems and disorders, and adhere to a stringent Codes of Ethics.

LPC services are eligible for reimbursement by insurance companies. At Connections, we do not work directly with any insurance company, but our LPCs can be reimbursed as out-of-network providers. We are happy to submit your insurance forms for you electronically so that you may be reimbursed as quickly as possible.
Fully-licensed counselors who are reimbursible by your insurance as out-of-network providers
LPC Interns: Licensed Professional Counselor Interns
Your LPC Intern has completed most of the above qualifications for State Licensure, but is still in the process of completing a supervised 3000-hour internship.

Interns meet with a clinical supervisor every week to discuss cases, receive suggestions, and to learn practical counseling methods from an experienced counselor. Your intern's supervisor has completed additional training and is licensed by the State of Texas for clinical supervision.  Even though cases are discussed, your confidentiality is always maintained.

Don't be afraid of the term "intern"!  Your counselor is fully-qualified to see clients, and receives excellent guidance in supervision.  In many cases, your intern is working on a second career, and has many years of life experience in addition to his/her post-graduate education. Some clients actually prefer to work with interns because interns have recently studied and may be more up-to-date on some of the latest concepts in counseling.

LPC Intern services are NOT eligible for reimbursement by insurance companies, but are priced lower, and are often an excellent alternative to fully-priced LPC services.
Counselors who have completed all requirements except their 3000 hours of clinical supervision.

Interns are NOT reimbursible by your insurance, but do offer lower rates.
Professional Life Coaches and Practicum Students
Your Life Coach is in the last two semesters of his/her Master's Degree in Counseling, and has completed all other coursework, and has learned all the material necessary to pass the National Counseling Exam (NCE).  Your sessions with your Life Coach are part of his/her 300-hour supervised Practicum, which is the final step of his/her Master's Degree.

After completing the Practicum hours, and passing the NCE and Jurisprudence Exam, your Life Coach will become an LPC Intern.

During Practicum, your Life Coach meets with a practicum supervisor once each week to discuss cases, receive suggestions, and to learn practical counseling methods from an experienced counselor or coach. This supervisor may be an LPC, and LPC Supervisor, a Pastoral Counselor, or a chaplain.  Even though your case may be discussed in supervision, your confidentiality is always maintained.

Life Coaches are  training to work with individuals, families, and groups in treating mental, behavioral, and emotional problems and disorders, and adhere to the same Codes of Ethics as fully-licensed LPCs.

Don't be afraid of the term "Student"!  Your Life Coach is fully authorized by his/her university to see clients, and receives excellent guidance from his/her supervisor.  In many cases, your Life Coach is working on a second career later in life, and has many years of life experience that often prove to be just as valuable as (sometimes more valuable than!) his/her post-graduate education. Also, some clients actually prefer to work with coaches because they have recently studied and may be more up-to-date on some of the latest concepts in counseling.

Professional Life Coach services are NOT eligible for reimbursement by insurance companies, but are priced lower than LPCs and LPC interns, and are often an excellent alternative to the higher-priced services.  In addition, your Life Coach may be able to offer a lower sliding-scale rate based on documented financial need.
Coaches who have completed all of their Masters-Level coursework and are finalizing their degree with a 300-hour supervised Practicum.

Life Coaches/Practicum Students are NOT reimbursible by your insurance, but offer lower rates than fully-licensed LPCs and Interns.
  1. LPC: $195 Intern: $120 Coach: $90
At times, you may prefer to schedule an extended session to work on particularly intense issues. You are always welcome to schedule these 80-minute sessions. Occasionally, because of the continuity an extended session allows, we may be able to accomplish more in 80 minutes than is even possible in two 50-minute sessions. If you find it difficult to schedule weekly 50-minute sessions, you may want to consider an 80-minute session every other week.
Counseling Services: Extended Session (80 Minutes)
  2. LPC: $125 Intern: $80 Coach: $60
A regular, private counseling session with an LPC, intern, or life coach lasts one clinical hour (50 minutes). To make the most of our limited time together, please arrive with an idea of the topics/questions on which you would most like to focus. Your counselor/coach will ask questions and help guide the session, but this is your time! If at 45 minutes you do not feel you are at a good stopping point, and if there is no other client after you, you may have the opportunity to convert to an Extended Session.
Counseling Services: Regular Session (50 minutes)
  3. LPC: $195 Intern: $120 Coach: $90
Your first session typically takes a full 80 minutes so that we can review your history, adequately outline the issues that bring you in, and discuss a plan. (If finances make an extended session impractical, ask your counselor about an abbreviated 50-minute intake for $125. To make the most of this shorter time, it is very important that you thoroughly complete all intake forms, providing as much detail as possible, at least 24 hours before your appointment time.)
